Obituary of Jenny Ryskamp
On Sunday, November 17, 2019 Jeanne H. Ryskamp, or Jenny, as she was known by all who knew and loved her, was welcomed into eternity with Jesus, the Lord of her life.
Jenny was born to Jean Henri and Cornelia Eigeman in Delft, the Netherlands on June 6, 1928. After losing both her parents by the age of nine she was raised by her older sisters and adoptive parents Bart and Sietske Bakels. Relocating to Stedum, Groningen during World War II, she not only participated in the Dutch resistance, but met the love of her life Henk Ryskamp. They were married on October 20, 1948 and together created a new life for themselves and their family in Canada. Even though life as an immigrant family was not easy there was always room for whomever needed help including several foster children. Mom Ryskamp was deeply committed to her family and church. Her open home and her ready help emphasized her generous spirit.
Missing her, yet thankful for her ninety-one years, are her husband of seventy-one years, Hendrik Pieter Ryskamp, her children Andrew and Kris Ryskamp, Sylvia and Gary DeBoer, John and Ellie Ryskamp, Carol Speelman, Cynthia and Martin Overgaauw, Jenda Ryskamp, fifteen grandchildren and thirty seven great grandchildren, her brother Pieter and Willemijn Eigeman, foster brother Robert and Monique Slager, and many, many, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death were her four sisters and their husbands and her son-in-law Peter Speelman.
Those wishing to honor her legacy of giving are encouraged to make a donation to World Renew or R.I.T.E (Ukraine project) in her honor.
Visitation with the family will be on November 20, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Providence United Reformed Church, 447 Second Street, Strathroy ON, N7G 3H8. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Martin Overgaauw officiating, also at Providence URC. Arrangements entrusted to DENNING`S OF STRATHROY.
