It is with great sadness that my brother (Jeremy Whiting) and I (Mike Whiting) announce the death of our mother Elly Whiting. She passed away peacefully on October 30, 2019 at the age of 71 years. Her loss was sudden and unexpected, and this has been a very difficult time for us.
Elly was born in Berwyn, Illinois on June 12, 1948. Her and our father David Whiting immigrated to Winnipeg in 1967 before settling in Calgary in 1973. Her life was difficult and challenging at times, but she always came out on top.
Jeremy and I have decided that we will have mom’s remains cremated and will scatter her ashes over our father’s gravesite at a later time. Please don’t send flowers and such. If desired, please donate to the Tom Baker Cancer Center.
My wife (Tammy Hoban) and I will be hosting an informal open house Saturday afternoon on November 9, 2019. This will be just a casual informal affair where those who wish can drop in and share memories with us. She was always surrounded by good people and will be dearly missed by all who knew her. Jeremy and I appreciate all the support and assistance during this difficult time. Thank you all very kindly.
