After a brief illness, Del passed away on November 12, 2019 at the age of 74 years.
Del was born July 8, 1945 in Pine Falls. He grew up in the Lac du Bonnet area and moved in 1971 to Thompson where he worked in the Inco mine as a welder for 30 years until his retirement in 2001.
Del was a very kind man with a big heart. His door was always open to all his friends and neighbours and his generosity was appreciated by countless charities and organizations over the years. He was an avid sports fan, especially of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, as well as the Winnipeg Jets and Toronto Blue Jays and knew all the stats. He was a faithful NCI bingo player and loved his ’68 Ford Mustangs and fishing.
It is comforting to know that Del is now reunited and fishing at Tulabi Falls with his son Jared, his dearest friends Ron and Judy and many other family and close friends who have passed on.
We would like to thank the St. Boniface Hospital ICU doctors and nurses that provided extraordinary care for the duration of his illness.
A celebration of Del’s life will be held on Saturday, November 23, 2019. Please stop by 65 Centennial Drive East in Thompson, Manitoba between 1:00-4:00pm to share stories and raise a glass in memory of Del.
