Babette Louise Phillips
1924-2019
Babette Louise Phillips passed away in her sleep at the age
of 95, at Orchard View Long Term Care, Gagetown, NB, on November 12,
2019. Aunt Bab (Babette) was born on May 11, 1924 at Andover, NB, the
youngest daughter of the late John A. Phillips and Barbara (Walker)
Phillips, and the last surviving member of her generation. She grew up
in Margaree, Cape Breton, NS.
Most of her
working life was spent in Toronto. She attained a senior
position with the Pilkington Glass Company. On
retirement, she moved to St. Andrews, NB, a place she always loved,
where she enjoyed many hobbies, quilting, painting, photography and
sewing. Also, she taught herself to play the organ. She
loved visits with family and friends, and travel as long as
she was able. She particularly enjoyed her trips to Scotland, Hawaii,
Iceland, Florida, western States, and many trips to Calgary to visit
family in the area.
She is survived by
numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, as well as great,
great nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, her 3 brothers, Robert
(Margaret), John (Ester) and Wendell, as well as 2 sisters, Helyn
Lawrence (Ronald) and Janet Dickie (Ray).
We
wish to extend a special thank you to the staff at Orchard
View for the excellent care Aunt Bab received while she was
there.
A family service will be held at a
later date. Interment will be in Fredericton. In lieu of flowers,
memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society, SPCA or a
charity of your choice.
