Obituary
THURMEIER, Austin
June 21, 2000 – November 27, 2019
It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Austin Thurmeier, following a month long stay at ICU after a cycling accident. Austin was a man of few words; a gentle giant and peacemaker. As a little boy, he was shy, never wanting to draw attention to himself, yet somehow managing to get into occasional mischief. When Austin played sports he preferred to stay out of the scrimmage because someone might get hurt. He was a good listener, hearing everything, yet when asked a question, all you got in response was a shoulder shrug. Some of the things that we are most proud of and miss the most are Austin’s loyalty and ability to keep a secret; he was a vault. He was inclusive of others and accepting people for who they were. At his Grade 8 Farewell he received the Citizenship Award. He is our best citizen every day. He will be greatly missed and never forgotten. Austin is lovingly remembered by his mother Carol Thurmeier; father Evan Thurmeier (Shannon); sisters Britney Thurmeier (Colin) and Sophie Doell; step-sister Maddy Olfert (Myles) and their daughter Paisley and step-brother Elijah Olfert; maternal grandparents John and Kathy Harris; paternal grandmother Carol (Bob) Lemon; maternal aunt and uncles Wendy (Brent) Mock and their children Alexis, Kayla and Emery, Rob Tarrington and his son Travis; paternal aunt Liane Thurmeier and her son Luke and paternal uncle Colin (Dawn) Thurmeier and their sons Colton, Brody and Brock; step-grandparents Al and Anne Peters; step-aunts and uncles Wade Peters (Sheila), Sherri Peters (Gill) and Graham Peters (Staci); and step-cousins Chris, Pam, Tannis, Josh, Peyton, Reed and Jake. He joins in heaven his paternal grandfather Leonard Thurmeier; maternal aunt Christine Tarrington; and paternal uncle Shawn Green. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Saskatchewan Brain Injury Association or the Royal University Hospital Foundation, c/o Intensive Care Unit.
