Annemarie’s Obituary
Born in THAL, THURINGIA, Germany to Anna Hedwig Salzman and Carl Eduard Graf on June 8, 1926, Annemarie had what she considered a really good childhood spending summertime’s at her grandparents farm in Mechterstadt.
Annemarie married Hans Metzner in October 1946 and their first son Harold was born in December 1948. Annemarie and their 8 year old son Harold followed Hans to Canada (Madsen, ON), in 1956. The family settled at Flat Lake and subsequently has sons Tom in 1958 and Ralph in 1959. Annemarie and Hans rented boats to muskie fish at Flat Lake and got a taste of the tourist business. They eventually purchased the fly-in fishing lodge BULL MOOSE CAMP and worked there until they retired.
Post retirement, Annemarie could always be found working in her garden, where she grew many of her own vegetables and had her berry bushes for making jam. She was also an avid baker, renowned for her torts. Most evenings you could find her knitting in front of the TV. Annemarie was still knitting mittens, toques and socks for the homeless at 92 years of age.
Annemarie was predeceased by her husband Hans, sister Charlotte, son Harold and grandson Brandon.
She is survived and will be missed by her sons Tom (Shara) Metzner and Ralph (Michelle) Metzner, grandchildren Dustin (Annie) Metzner, Selina Metzner, Harlan Metzner and their mother Josie Hagadorn. She will also be missed by all her great grandchildren and the community at large.
