Mary’s Obituary
Mary Auramenko of Canora, SK, passed away peacefully at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre on October 23, 2019, at the age of 92 years.
Mary was born September 18, 1927, to Elex and Mary (Kmet) Yaremko on her Grandmother’s farm, north of Stenen, SK. Early in life, she worked as a Nurse’s aide. Her compassionate care continued as she looked after people in her own home in Hyas as well as Canora through the Home Care Program, leading to her recognition for 35 years of dedicated service. She was very competent, caring and quite proud of her work.
Most of all, Mary cherished her family. She greatly loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Always the “great educator,” she could be counted on to provide encouragement and support in times of need and to celebrate accomplishments in times of joy.
She enjoyed her years in the “Joy of singing” Choir and playing ball in the Hyas Slow Pitch team. She worked tirelessly on the family farm and was an accomplished gardener who loved flowers and was a wonderful cook.
She will be remembered as a loving, independent, strong-willed woman and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mary was predeceased by her parents, Elex and Mary; husband, John Auramenko; brothers, John and Boris Yaremko and her sisters, Tillie Maddess and Gene Shukin.
She will be lovingly remembered by her children: Grace Procyshen (Wayne), Duane Auramenko (Jeanne), Diane Hein (Adam), Norine Auramenko (Tom), and Dale Auramenko (Shaunna); grandchildren: Alison Auramenko (Gordon), Dustyn Auramenko (Jenine) and their two children, Kiara and Parker, Janene Auramenko, Amanda Perro (Lance) and their two children, Marek and Ryner, Corey Krowchynski, Caitlan Auramenko and Kyle Auramenko; and her sister, Rose Drebit and brother, Mike Yaremko; as well as extended family and friends.
A Celebration of Mary’s Life will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 26, 2019, at the Chapel of Leson’s Funeral Home, Canora, SK, with Pastor Greg Bright officiating. Interment will follow in the Stenen Community Cemetery, northwest of Stenen, SK. Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Mary Auramenko.
