Joan Helen Rondeau of Prince Albert, SK, passed on Monday, October 28, 2019 at the Victoria Hospital, Prince Albert, SK at the age of 69, surrounded by those she loved. She was born October 12, 1950 in Prince Albert SK, to Charlie and Jean Coombes.
She was preceded in death by her brother David, her Mother and Father, and one son Albert.
Joan is survived by her sons: David Rondeau (Karen) and their children Taylor, Nicholas, and Sarah of Crutwell, SK; Dion Rondeau (Michelle) and their son Mason of Shellbrook, SK; Justin Rondeau (Allison) and their children Gracie and Locklan of Coff’s Harbour, Australia; and Albert’s daughter Abby. Joan was a proud Grandmother to each of her treasured Grandchildren.
Joan also leaves to mourn her sisters: Cheryl Sommerfeld (Brian Burgess) of Telkwa, BC, Dawn Coombes (Ray Wobma) of Prince Albert, SK, June Vandale (Lawrence Vandale) of Warman, SK and one brother Darrel Coombes of Calgary, AB as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.
Joan was a long-time resident of Prince Albert where she lived since leaving her childhood home in Shellbrook, SK. She lived in Kitimat and Prince George, British Columbia for a few years in the 70’s and returned to Saskatchewan.
Joan was employed by the Holy Family Hospital until its closure and then moved to Mont St Joseph’s Nursing Facility for a combined 30+ years, until her health prevented her from working this year. Joan adored the residents and the camaraderie of her coworkers. Sadly this love of people deterred her from enjoying any retirement before passing.
Joan was an amazing cook, loved her gardening and the colors of nature. The highlight of her life was enjoying time spent with her family, especially her Grandchildren. Joan’s sense of humor and contagious laugh will be missed. She leaves a legacy of kindness and compassion for people of all walks of life.
A Public Visitation will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at Mont St. Joseph Home, 777 28th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. A Celebration of Joan’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2019 at St. Joseph Church, 260 25th Street East, Prince Albert, SK. with Reverend Nora Vedress officiating. Interment will follow in the South Hill Cemetery.
