It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jean McGarvey, age 90, at the Belmont Long Term Care Facility, Belleville on Wednesday October 23, 2019, surrounded by her family. Jean previously was a long-time resident of Marmora. For many years she was an active member of the UCW, she bowled, curled, enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing and throughout her life she loved music and dancing. Beloved wife of the late Ron McGarvey and loving mother of her five children, Sharon Gerber (Bill) of Cobourg, Roxanne Lloyd (late Warren) of Belleville, Janice Pitt (George) of Belleville, Janet Calnan of Florida. Predeceased by her son Terry McGarvey, sister Youearln Wright, brother Harold Landon and her parents Wesley Wannamaker and Bessie (nee Crossen). Much loved Nanny to her 12 grandchildren – Kristin Shannik (Aaron), Ryan Gerber (Rebecca), Melissa McGarvey-Paul (James), Sheena McGarvey (Jordan Fairhead), Dillon McGarvey, Andy Lloyd, the late Jessica Lloyd, Andre Watson (Angie Ibbotson), Stephanie Holoway (Lance), Erin Haley (Phil), Jennifer Ridder (Ryan), Brianna Ferritto (Matt). Loved by her 17 great grandchildren. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be held at a later date with a spring burial at the Marmora Cemetery.
The family wishes to thank the Staff at the Belmont LTCF for the excellent loving care and compassion given to our Mom these last few years.
