Helen Anne Chernish (MacDonald)
CHERNISH, Helen Anne – nee-MacDonald / Taniwa – (September 25, 1943 – October 24, 2019). Surrounded by the love of her family Helen passed away peacefully at the Greater Niagara General Hospital on Thursday, October 24, 2019 in her 77th year. Beloved wife of the late Terry “Benj” Chernish. Cherished mother of Sue Taniwa (Ray Laflamme), Sherry Taniwa LeRossignol (Brian) and Stan Taniwa (Sue). Proud and loving Grandma/Nana of her only grandson Christopher Taniwa and her granddaughters Jamie Taniwa Picard (Darcy), Jasmine Taniwa, Mackenzie LeRossignol, Kirstynn and Samantha Taniwa. Dear great Grandma/Nana of Emma Taniwa, Liam Picard and her little angel Arriyah Taniwa. Helen will be sadly missed by her sisters Jeanette Brousseau, Faye Achurch (Ray) as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins. Helen is predeceased by her parents Sophia and James Ross MacDonald, brothers Howard and Lorne MacDonald, sister Paulette Garon, brother in law Edward Brousseau, special nephew Enzo Mattei and niece Tracey Lundquist. Helen was a full time Mom, Grandma, Nana and Aunt. She devoted her life to her family who she loved cooking baking and gardening for. She loved to travel North in the summer and South to Myrtle Beach and Disney World in winter months.
The family will receive their friends at the H.L. Cudney Funeral Home, 241 West Main Street, Welland on Friday, November 1st from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A service to celebrate her life will be held in the Cudney Chapel at 12:30 p.m. Interment to follow.
