It is with great sadness we announce that Harley Malcolm Parkinson passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family at Anna-Laberge Hospital, Chateauguay, Quebec on October 16, 2019.
Harley was a loving and devoted husband to Lyla for 62 years and cherished father of his two daughters, Jo-Ann (Rick Graham) and Cynthia (Randy Burchell). He was a devoted grandfather to Michael and Danielle Graham and Robyn, Brett and Brandon Burchell. He will be deeply missed by his family, his nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and all those whose lives he touched.
Our appreciation to the palliative care unit at Anna-Laberge for making his last days comfortable.
Harley was born in Ormstown, Quebec on November 3, 1931. He worked at Dominion Textile for 46 years and enjoyed retirement for more than 20 years. Harley loved playing his piano and keyboard, curling socially, playing cards with friends, attending events at the 55Plus Centre, and spending time at their trailer in Plattsburgh, NY. He also enjoyed cruising and traveling the world with Lyla. He was well known for his amazing ability to play any musical instrument by ear and he revelled in playing to audiences. Harley enjoyed recounting jokes and stories and his humour and wit will be missed by all who knew him.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019 at Yves Légaré Complexes funéraires, 123 Boulevard Maple, Châteauguay.
Visitation will be at 10:00 a.m. with a memorial service following at 11:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew’s United Church (Chateauguay), would be appreciated.
