Gregory «Greg»‘s Obituary
WEIR, Gregory Neil “Greg” ~ Age 60, Somerset, Kings Co., passed away on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at home. Born in Halifax, he was a son of Ruth L. (McCormack) Weir, Berwick, and the late Donald L. Weir. Greg worked in accounting at CRA and Service Canada for many years. During his time in western Canada he raised his family. He was very proud of his children. He was active in hockey, golf, softball, and especially tennis. You could always count on Greg to help out at any sporting event. Greg was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs, Toronto Argonauts, and Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Greg returned to the east coast to help out with his family. He enjoyed time spent by the water and collecting sea glass with Kathy. While back in the valley he enjoyed attending community events and was an adherent of the Morristown Baptist Church. Greg will be sadly missed by his family and friends and beloved dog, Lucho. Besides his mother, he is survived by his long time friend, Kathy Corbin, Coldbrook; children, Nicholas «Nick» and Megan Weir, and their mother, the former Debra Young, all of Sherwood Park, Alta; sister, Susan (the late Peter) Connell, Berwick; sister-in-law, Wanda Weir, Moncton, N.B.; several nieces and nephews. Besides his father he was predeceased by brother, Dan Weir. All are welcome to attend the interment which will take place in Morristown Cemetery, on Wednesday, October 23 at 1:00 p.m.with Rev. Chad Clements (Morristown Baptist) and Rev. Evan Colford (Berwick Baptist) officiating. A celebration of Greg`s life will take place from 6-8 p.m., beginning with a brief ceremony at 6 p.m., Wednesday, October 23 in Berwick & District Lions Club, (Kings Mutual Century Centre) 250 Veterans Drive, Berwick. Family flowers only, donations in his memory may be made to Canadian National Institute for the Blind or Morristown Baptist Church.
