Obituary of Gordon Randall Strachan
Passed away on Friday October 18, 2019 in his 94th year, at Trillium Hospital in Mississauga, Ontario. Beloved father of Randy (Joan) and Cary. Devoted grandfather of Lindsay (Neale) Wisniewski, Gabriel and Nathaniel Madariaga. Great grandfather and “Big Papa” of Ezra Thompson and Simon Wisniewski. Brother to Robert (Lois Mae). Cherished uncle of many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by parents Gordon and Teresa Strachan, sister Helen Hall, first wife Carol Fretz (1951 – 2001), second wife June Gardner (2007-2008) and grandson James Strachan. A WWII Veteran and graduate of McMaster University (1949), he proudly worked in Quality Control positions at Maple Leaf Mills (Port Colborne, Ontario & Medicine Hat, Alberta)
and at Kitchen’s of Sara Lee (Bramalea, Ontario). Most of all, he loved to jitterbug with Carol. He was grateful for living a good and long life, may he rest in peace. Cremation has taken place. A graveside gathering will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Wainfleet on Thursday October 24, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. In memory of Bud, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be deeply appreciated.
