Obituary of Frederick Elias Corey
It is with great sadness that we announce that Fred Jr. has gone from here to be with our loved ones in heaven on September 27, 2019. He fought hard a courageous battle with cancer and through it all he remained a strong, loving and brave husband, father and grandfather. Fred is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years Gilberta, daughter Leah (Morgan) Roesch, son Chris, daughter Tara (Seth) Ebersole, grandsons Andrew Roesch and Jacob Corey. Also lovingly remembered by his sister Judy (Hubert) Roy, brother Ron(Joanne), brother in law August (Linda) Lens, sister in law Irene (Larry) Czinege, sister in law Brenda (Jim) Vittie, many cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous close friends. Fred was predeceased by his father Fredrick Corey Sr. and mother Florilda “Freda” Corey. Fred had a heart of gold and he always put his family first and it showed in everything that he did. He could always make you laugh with his great sense of humour. He had an affinity for fixing just about anything and always like to help not only his family but all those who needed it. Fred was an electrician by trade working for Stelco later known as Lakeside Steel for over 30 years. He was an avid car enthusiast where he enjoyed taking his Opel to car shows, he liked to listen to jazz music, taking family vacations, fishing and had many other hobbies. Fred will be forever in our hearts and his legacy continues on in all of us and all whom he’s touched so dearly. We love you forever and for always. The Corey family will receive friends at the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne on Sunday November 10, 2019 from 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. A service to celebrate his life will follow in the Armstrong Chapel at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Brian Lofthouse officiating. If so desired, memorial donations may to the Niagara Health System for Palliative Care at Douglas Memorial Hospital.
