Obituary for
Erika Karin Maria Cousins
On Wednesday, October 02, 2019, Erika Karin Maria Cousins, loving mother of Erik and Carter, passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 27 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta after a courageous battle from a rare type of cervical cancer.
Erika was born on May 7, 1992 in New Liskeard, Ontario to Bruce Cousins and Kristin Leveille [Eby]. She attended Haileybury Public School, Temiskaming District Secondary School and Canadore College before moving to Edmonton, Alberta in April 2014.
She loved the outdoors and as a little girl going to her grandparents cottage on Lake Temagami, swimming, skating and more recently hiking and creating memories, with her boys, in her favourite place Banff. Erika enjoyed photography, staying active, working out, spin classes, loved owls, roller coasters and visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios. She had many interests, but her passion and greatest love was being an amazing mom to her boys, Erik and Carter.
Erika is survived by her two children Erik and Carter, her mother Kristin Leveille and step father Joel Leveille, her father Bruce Cousins and step mother Kristi Kolby [of Detroit], her brothers Timothy Cousins [Cristy], Scott Cousins, Devin Leveille and her two step brothers Andrew and Justin Levelle, her grandmother Kelly Eby-Doyle and step grandfather John Doyle [of Burlington], many uncles, aunts and cousins. Erika was preceded in death by her grandfather, Timothy Eby – her grandfather Bill Cousins and grandmother Mildred Cousins [Johnson]. She has rejoined Grampa Tim flying above the clouds and watching over us all.
There will be a celebration of life held at the Haileybury Golf Club [800 Latchford Street] on Saturday, October 19th, 2019 from 1:00 to 5:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to a Trust Fund set up for Erik and Carter would be greatly appreciated. This can be done by email transfer to Scott Cousins (scotter_12@hotmail.com).
