Dorothy «Dot» Jewkes
1929-2019
On Tuesday, October 22, 2019, Dorothy
«Dot» Muriel Jewkes, age 89, of Springhill,
NS, passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre with
family by her side.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the late James
and Eva (Hachey) Anderson.
A woman of deep faith, Dot was very
active in her church, St. John The Baptist Roman Catholic Church in
Springhill, being a member of the CWL and the Ladies
Auxiliary. She
worked for Canada Post at the Springhill Post Office for over 35
years.
She was a member of the Springhill Senior Citizens
Club.
She loved spending time at the beach as often as she
could, watching hours of curling on television, and always enjoyed a
good game of 45’s or cribbage.
She will be dearly missed by sons, Gary (Lynda), Tillsonburg,
ON, Jim (Georgie), Sus, NB; adopted daughter Chrissy (John)
Buckley, St. Albert, AB; grandchildren, Shannon (Shane) Earle,
Apohaqui, NB, Jason (Mindy), Bracebridge, ON and Jeff (Amelia),
Ingersoll, ON; great grandchildren, MacKenzie, Devon, Haleigh, Urijah,
Cloey and Calliope; close friend and neighbour Shirley Veniott; as
well as nieces and nephews.
Go gently Mom, God has now called you home, we will miss you.
You have walked this earth for a long while, now walk your heavenly
walk, until we meet again.
She was predeceased by her sister Marjorie «Midgie»
Legere.
Arrangements have been entrusted to A.H. Brown
Funeral Home, 5 McFarlane St., Springhill, NS
(902-597-2361). Funeral Mass will take place in the spring when all
family can be home to celebrate her life. Burial will follow with her
parents in the North Street Cemetery.
