Duncan – The family of Alexander Duncan
Williams is deeply saddened by his passing. He passed away on Sunday,
October 13, 2019, in the QEII Hospital, Infirmary Site, Halifax at the
age of 81, after a lengthy battle with many reoccurring illnesses.
His
courage and perseverance will never go unnoticed. He was surrounded by
loved ones from near and far. He was born on March 30, 1938 in
Orangedale, Inverness Co., and was the son of the late Albert and Elma
(Taylor) Williams. He was raised in Mulgrave, and later met and
married the love of his life, the late Gladys (Deveau) Williams.
Alexander leaves behind 4 children, Wayne (Cindy) Williams,
Frankville; John Williams, Red Deer AB; Donald (Randi) Williams,
Millet AB; and April (Michael) Pettipas, Linwood. He will be deeply
missed by his 9 grandchildren, Courtney (Tom), Candace (Marc), Leah
(Al), Mitchell (Katie), Shawn (Kim), Brennan, Will (Rhea), Alexander
and Erika; four great-grandchildren, Peyton, Hazel, Jaxon &
Baby Williams 2020. He was also survived by twin brother, Arthur ,
East Havre Boucher; and sister, Anne-Marie (Gerald) Tibbo, Squamish,
BC; several nieces and nephews.
Alexander was
a caring, compassionate, true gentleman. He was a town cop in Mulgrave
many years ago and eventually moved on to
spend many
years working for CNR where he later retired. He was a life time
member of the Kinsmen club of Canada, an honour he was proud of, and
thought of as his second family. His hobbies and interests included
baseball, helping others, road trips with his grandchildren and Cape
Breton music. His door was always opened to many who referred to him
as Grampie.
Alexander was predeceased by brothers, Donald,
Roy, Taylor, and Don; sisters-in-law, Kathleen and
Vivian.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from
2-9p.m. in St Paul’s Center, Havre Boucher. Funeral service
will be held from St. Lawrence Church, Mulgrave on Friday at 11:00
a.m. with Rev. Donna Lovelace officiating. Burial in Trinity United
Church Cemetery, Mulgrave.
The family
would like to thank the staff at St. Martha’s Hospital and
the staff at 5.2 at QE2 for their kindness and compassion during Dads
many battles.
