John F. Sammon, born is Pembroke, Ontario on the 25th of January 1946, passed away peacefully at Miramichi Lodge in Pembroke on Sunday, the 25th August, 2019. He was predeceased by his parents Merrill and Chloe Sammon, and his brother Brian. He is survived by his sister Sharon, and brothers Bill (Sharon) and Peter (Brenda). He will be fondly remembered by his sister-in-law Chantal Lacelle and by his former spouse Nancy Keys along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John graduated in Business Administration from the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology and spent a number of years employed by E.B. Eddy in Hull, Quebec and later by Domtar in Espanola, Ontario, where he made many life-long friends. He was a gifted multi-sport athlete in his youth and continued to play hockey and golf for most of his adult life.Throughout his life he was a voracious reader and dedicated walker. The family wishes to thank Paul Kallioinen and his wife Candace and their son Aidan who provided unwavering support for John over the last four difficult years.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Funeral Service for John on Saturday September 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at the MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 296 Isabella Street, Pembroke. Interment St. Columba’s Cemetery, followed by a reception at the Murphy Funeral Home. In memory of John, donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada would be appreciated.
