Hazel passed away peacefully at the age of 93.
She was predeceased by her husband Arthur and her son Douglas. Hazel will be greatly missed by her sons Ray (Marlene), Gary, daughter Kim Howes (David) and her daughters in law Laura and Pat.
Hazel devoted her time to her grandchildren, Lisa (Gord), Steven (Paula), Cody, Eric, Lindsay (Will), Kelsey, Tommy, Jeff (Jenn), Michael (Danica) and her great grandchildren Josh, Danika, Iris, Alex, Braden, Kieran, Connor and Larkyn. Also mourning her loss is her sister and best friend Mabel Senchuk and many friends and relatives.
She spent countless hours watching her grandchildren in all their sporting activities and was their biggest cheerleader. She enjoyed watching the Toronto Raptors, curling, gardening, reading and knitting. During her last few years she took pleasure in knitting for charity. Hazel was employed for many years at Sears and the Fort Rouge Curling Club.
She had a great sense of humour and touched the lives of many people. When surrounded by family, Mom said “Don’t be sad I have had a great life and a wonderful family”
The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital 5th Floor for the care they provided.
In keeping with mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service.
