BUTERA, Giovanna – it is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Giovanna, our mother and nonna, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of Raffaele (predeceased in 2001) and dear mother to Angela and Dominic DiSpalatro, Mary Minervini, Michelangelo and Laura Butera. Adoring and loving nonna to her eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Our dear mother and nonna leaves behind a legacy of unconditional love, family, strength and perseverance. Giovanna was born in 1927 in Catanzaro, Italy and was a member of the Catholic Women’s League at St. Anthony’s Church in Hamilton for over 50 years. Special thanks to the staff of Billings Court Manor and Dr. Robinson who have looked after her with great compassion and care.
Family and friends will be received at Smith’s Funeral Home, 1167 Guelph Line in Burlington (905-632-3333) on Sunday September 8th from 3-5pm and 7-9pm. Funeral Mass will be at 10am on Monday September 9th at St Gabriel’s Church (2261 Parkway Dr. in Burlington). Entombment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Reception to follow at St.Gabriel’s church hall. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Hospital for Sick Children. May our beautiful angel rest in peace.
