Paul Brand, aged 72, unexpectedly passed away July 30th, 2019. Paul was predeceased by his mother and father, Jacqueline (Thibodeau) and Henry Brand. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Marie and his daughters Nicole (Darryl), Jacquie (Marlowe) and Crystal (Sean) and his dog, Sophie.
Paul was born in Edson, Alberta in 1946 and over the course of his years lived in Sparwood, Cranbrook, Cassiar, Kamloops, Tumbler Ridge, and Grande Prairie, finally returning to BC to settle in Enderby two years ago. He was a heavy duty mechanic, having always loved the challenge of fixing and creating things. We think his career probably started as a youngster when he built a go-cart using a wash machine motor! Known for his trouble shooting expertise, he fixed the neighborhood bikes, toasters, radios and basically anything else that needed repair.
His work life spilled over into his hobby of collecting vintage cars – everything from a ’64 Thunderbird to a ’63 Chev Impala Supersport (409) to a ‘56 Crown Victoria, amongst various others – Paul’s current project was a ‘58 Ford retractable that he spent hours looking for parts for. His great love though was his ’47 Willy’s Jeep that he bought when his daughters were very young – a vehicle he has been synonymous with over the years (everyone remembers Paul and his Willy’s). It was one of the many vehicles he restored but also one that he used for bombing around, off-roading, doing fencing around the farm and for hunting and fishing.
Paul loved hunting and fishing, having been out on the lake catching beautiful trout just a month before he died. He was a fantastic hunter, known as “ Spotter “ by his friends and family. He was an excellent shot and truly enjoyed going out in the woods to find deer, moose, elk and other game. A true carnivore, he loved his game meat!
Hockey was a huge part of Paul’s life having played the sport as a kid; he was really great player and a natural on the ice. He was passionate about his team, the Pittsburgh Penguins, creating a running commentary through ALL the games. You could start a library with the amount of hockey books and magazines he had, never tiring of learning about the game and its players, fueling his encyclopedic knowledge of hockey history.
This year Paul was missed at Hot Night in the City where he would grump about Chevy engines in Ford classics and restorations that weren’t stock, quizzing his daughters on the cars that they saw.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the SPCA or any animal rescue of your choice.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Paul Anthony Brand July 30th 2019..
