Obituary of Patricia June Houghton
HOUGHTON, Patricia – It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Patricia Houghton(nee Belisle) on August 19,2019 . She is survived by her husband, Norman: her son, Matthew: her grandchildren, Jacob: Nigel : and Mia. Patricia is also survived by her sisters, Sharon Parker and family: Susie Stevenson and family: brother, Danny and family. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Nora Belisle: her brother, Rod: her sister, Mary Hall. She will be missed by many nieces, nephews and friends. Patricia was a school Principal, teacher, mentor, role model and an amazing, inspiring woman. She was a patient listener and a gentle advisor. She inspired others to read, write, think and observe. She had a spiritual journey with the Sisters of St. Joseph and was involved in social justice issues, community and church activities. Patricia showed us the importance of enjoying life’s opportunities and shared her love of books, theatre, playing the piano, singing Irish songs and sailing with her husband Norm, son Matthew and friends from the Port Dalhousie Yacht Club. Patricia was a natural teacher who created opportunities for all children to learn, to grow in kindness and respect for self and others. Many thanks to friends and health care workers whose support helped us through this journey. Cremation has taken place. The family will receive visitors at the GEORGE DARTE FUNERAL HOME, 585 Carlton Street , St. Catharines on Sunday, August 25th from 2-4p.m. & 7-9p.m. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at Star of the Sea Church , 34 Elgin Street , St. Catharines on Monday, August 26th at 11a.m. Memorial donations to Alzheimer Society or Hospice Niagara would be appreciated by the family.
