After a short valiant fight with cancer and with broken hearts we announce the passing of our Amazing mother, Mary in her 87th year. Most adored mother to Carolyn and Ron Galasso, and Robert and Patti O’Donnell. She is predeceased by her loving daughter Lynda Adams (1991) and her husband Ross Servos (1997)
Worshiped and loved beyond measure by her grandchildren , Jeff Adams, Ron (Danielle) Galasso, Deanna (Joe) Modaffari, Danny and David (Missy) O’Donnell. She was a treasured “Mimi” to her beautiful great-grandchildren, Joey and Milana Modaffari, Samson Galasso and Jordanna O’Donnell.
She was born on St Patrick’s Day March 17 1932 at home on Sanford Ave N to the late Agnes and Robert Steel. She was the youngest of three children and is survived by her brother William Steel (Janet deceased)and predeceased by brother Robert (Marion) Steel. Mary revisited her childhood home on her 85th birthday followed by a birthday party that was attended by many of her loving family and friends. She would say it was the best birthday ever held at Twenty Place club house.
Mary was affectionately known as Queen B, Mama, her Majesty or impeccably dressed Aunt Mary. She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins who will truly miss her beautiful smile and her vibrant love for all of them. Family was everything to her and she sacrificed so much to provide for her loved ones. She loved playing cards at the different legions or with “the girls” and enjoyed line-dancing, karaoke, and country music. She was a great organizer, listener, a wise adviser and a voice of reason, to many friends and family members .
After retiring from Dominion Glass she moved to Twenty place in Mount Hope where she met many new friends and ran bus tours through Maxima tours for residents. She was an active member of St Stephens on the Mount church and volunteered countless hours preparing for tea hour, wedding planning and participated in many other events at the church.
A special thank you to Dr.Major, the staff at c3 and the Cancer clinic at Juravinksi hospital, and to all the nurses and PSW’s for the loving care and support given to our Mom during this 3 month journey. A heartfelt thanks also to the staff and volunteers at Dr Bob Kemp Hospice where Mom spent her finals days in peace and tranquility in a picturesque room, watching the birds and listening to the waterfall.
In lieu of flowers Donations to the Cancer Assistance Program or Dr.Bob Kemp hospice would be appreciated by the family
Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – «William J. Markey Chapel», 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Sunday from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephen on the Mount, 625 Concession Street, Hamilton on Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00 am. Burial at Woodland Cemetery, Burlington.
Words can’t wipe away our tears, hugs won’t ease our pain. We will hold on to our wonderful memories and the joy she instilled in our hearts forever
