Surrounded by his family Joey passed away at Joseph Brant Hospital, Burlington, on Thursday, August 8, 2019 at the age of 51. In the 8 months Joey battled cancer, he never gave up and insisted “I got this”. Joey is the beloved husband of Cheryl (nee Mulé), loving father of Katrina and Jack, cherished brother of Mary Jo Heeney (Mike), Michael (Kathleen), and Stephen (Laura) and loved son-in-law of Charles and Ethel Mulé. Joey will be dearly missed by all his nieces, nephews and many friends. He is also predeceased by his parents Joseph and Mary Frances (nee Brown).
Joey was a huge fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs so we know the cup will be coming home soon.
Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line (one stop light north of QEW), BURLINGTON (905-632-3333) on Tuesday, August 13 from 3 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m., with Vigil prayers for Joe at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Raphael’s Roman Catholic Church (4072 New Street, Burlington) on Wednesday, August 14 at 11:30 a.m. Following the reception in the church hall after Mass, a Celebration of Life will take place at Wendel Clark’s- 380 Brant St, Burlington L7R 2E8 at 3 p.m. For those who wish memorial donations to The Canadian Cancer Society would be sincerely appreciated by the family.
