On Monday, August 19, 2019, Helen Thompson Payne (Fraser), loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away at the age of 89.
Helen was born on December 13, 1929 in Upper Musquodoboit, Nova Scotia to Alvin and Ruth Fraser. Helen had a passion for painting landscapes and was immensely talented. Her paintings hang in the homes of her family and continue to be admired by guests. Helen was also a tremendous cook and baker, and many of her recipes have become holiday staples. She was an avid reader and a remarkable storyteller who captivated her children and grandchildren. She will forever be remembered for her quick wit, kind spirit, infectious smile, and dazzling blue eyes.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband George Payne and her son Michael Payne. She is survived by her daughter Cindy Edwards (Mark Edwards), her son Mark Payne (Charlotte Tunstall), her grandchildren Katelyn Edwards (Todd Switzer), Ethan Edwards, Kellen Payne, and Erin Edwards (Tyler Bowers), and her great grandchildren Violet and Lynkin. A family Celebration of Life will be held in the fall in Helen’s memory.
