Obituary of Harvey Ruehs
Harvey Ruehs passed away peacefully with family by his side at Chateau St. Michael, Moose Jaw on Thursday, August 22, 2019. Harvey, at the age of 83, beloved husband of Beverly for over 59 years, predeceased by his parents, Miriam and Bud Ruehs, brother Donald and son-in-law Charles Freeman. Loving father of Beth Tello (Hector), Barb Boys (Ron), Denise Rasmussen (Phil) and cherished grandfather of Kory, Jesse, Megan, Chenise, Brooke (Brayden) and Makayla. He will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law Brian (Jackie) Burrell. numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Harvey was born on April 29, 1936 to Arthur and Miriam Ruehs in Vanguard, SK. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Aneroid, SK but moved to Moose Jaw shortly after school to become a butcher. He married Beverly Burrell on October 12, 1959 in Aneroid and they began their life and family together in Moose Jaw. They owned and operated a General Store for several years in Lake Valley South of Brownlee but returned to farming Northwest of Rouleau, SK prior to retiring to Moose Jaw in 2001. While in Moose Jaw, they were very involved in community affairs and were fixtures at Trinity United Church. Although Harvey loved social activities with friends, playing cards, or pool, he really became immersed in the Moose Jaw and District Seniors Association at Timothy Eatons. He enjoyed time spent with his children and grandchildren, but his first priority and dedication was to Beverly. He will be greatly missed by the staff and members of the Moose Jaw and District Seniors Association, friends from Trinity United, and all whose lives he touched over the years. A Celebration of Harvey’s Life will be held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W., Moose Jaw at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Shepherd officiating. Memorial donations to the Moose Jaw and District Seniors Association, or to Trinity United Church would be greatly appreciated. The family would like to thank the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital, Pioneer’s Lodge and Chateau St. Michael for their care and compassion. In living memory of Harvey, a memorial tree planting will be made by Jones-Parkview Funeral Services.
