Obituary of Elizabeth Catherine Burns
Elizabeth (Betty) Burns
Born November 7, 1924 – Passed August 9, 2019 at age 94 at Hospice Peterborough.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Joseph Burns after 65 years of marriage.
Mother to John Michael Burns and Julie Ann Burns, beloved Nana to Erin Burns (Scott Murduff) and Emily Burns. Granny to Colton, Ella and Connor Murduff (The Bear Cubs).
Also predeceased by brother Victor McAuliffe and sister Yvonne Leether and her parents Michael McAuliffe and Kathleen Harrington.
Betty loved life and was an inspiration to many younger folks having experienced 94 years of wisdom. She loved a party, a colourful joke, a drink and any trips available. A retired bookkeeper she continued to balance her books to the penny at age 94. She stayed current on world events and sports teams. The Blue Jays were her favourite. She followed all her great grandchildren (3) with incredible interest in all they endeavored (school, sports, family events), she loved them dearly.
Betty will be missed by all she impacted during her long and colourful life. Heaven may not be ready for her!!
A Visitation will be held at ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME 840 Armour Road, Peterborough on Friday August 16th, 2019 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. With a Funeral Mass on Saturday August 17th, 2019 at St. Anne’s Church, 859 Barnardo Avenue Details to follow. Interment to follow at St. Martin’s of Tours Cemetery, Ennismore.
