Obituary of Donald Sidney Hemstock
HEMSTOCK, Donald Sidney: January 28th, 1923- August 19th, 2019
Died peacefully at PRHC leaving behind 3 weeks short of his 70th anniversary, wife Corinne, son Gary, daughter Vicki (Joe Lohmann), grandchildren Lindsay and Andrew. Don joined the army in 1941 and served 4 years in Europe. Just recently he was awarded France’s highest honour, the Knights of the National Order of the Legion of Honour. In 1941 Don joined the Lorne Scots and served 4 years in Europe. In 1947 he started work in Toronto as an auto mechanic and in 1954 he joined Forest Hill Fire Department as a mechanic and then TFD. After 33 years on the job, he and his wife returned to Ennismore. He enjoyed boating in the summer, winters in Florida playing golf and pool with his Ennismore senior buddies.
