Obituary for Mr. Donald Ralph Barker
Mr. Don Barker of High River, AB passed away on August 14th, 2019 at the High River Hospital at the age of 83 years. Don was born on April 24, 1936 in Edmonton, AB and grew up in the Bergen and Sundre areas. He was a welder and heavy- duty mechanic, working for Spray Lake Sawmills, Coutts Machinery, Blackwood Hodge and Waterous Diesel.
Don loved spending time at the lake at Carefree Resort where he had many happy days for 29 summers. He had many hobbies which included flying radio-controlled airplanes as well as making many metal and wood crafts. In Don’s younger days he was a rodeo competitor and in later years enjoyed watching the events as a spectator or on television.
Don is survived by his loving wife Marjorie whom he was married to for 60 years; daughter Barbara (Paul) Turner, son Brian (Maureen) Barker; grandchildren Jason and Cory Turner; as well as two great-grandchildren, Nate and Izabella Turner. Don is also survived by his brother Bob and sister Doris, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
