Art Dekraker passed away peacefully after a brief illness on July 26 at the age of 85.
He was predeceased by Lily, his loving wife of 52 years, and is survived by his son Andrew, daughter Paula (Michael), and special granddaughter Jessica.
Art will also be missed by brother John (Shirley) De Kraker, as well as nieces Debbie Kocs, and Cindy Steemers, along with many other friends and relatives.
Art grew up in the Netherlands and immigrated to Canada in 1955. He spent most of his career working in the offices of BC Hydro and BC Gas. Art loved music, primarily jazz. He was an accomplished photographer, and did much travelling, with a special place in his and Lily’s heart for Tofino on Vancouver Island.
Special thanks to Dr. Carol Pfefferkorn for taking excellent care of Art’s health for many years.
A celebration of life will be held August 17th at 11 am at Kearney Columbia – Bowell Chapel at 219 – 6th Street in New Westminster, followed by a reception at the same location.
