BERTOLO, Pietro.
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Pietro on July 19, 2019 in his 89th year. He will be sadly missed by his wife of 62 years Rosina, his children Bert (Shelly), Joe (Barbara), Cristina (Gary) Page, and Geri; also by grand-children Tianna, Nicole, Nikki, Michael, and Marco. He will be missed by his sister Duilia (late Tony) Trigiani. Pre-deceased by parents Umberto and Lucia, and sister Dina (Ediliano). He will be mourned by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Pietro emigrated from Italy at the young age of 21. He was educated in mechanical design. Due to his limited English he became a laborer at Stelco, where he worked his way up to becoming a ladle crane operator. He retired from Stelco after working for 39 years. He married Rosina June 22, 1957, built his dream home in 1964, and raised 4 children. This country home allowed him to follow his passion for gardening, and tend to his beloved fruit trees. Pietro enjoyed hunting, fishing, and making wine. He was a member of the Famee Farlane Club, in Binbrook where he enjoyed playing cards, and bocce. Special thank you to Amber, Jennifer, Tori, Suzy, and all the staff and residents of Amica. Family will receive guests at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – «William J. Markey Chapel», 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Vigil Prayers at 8.30pm. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, 63 Highway 20 East, Stoney Creek on Wednesday at 11:00 am with Entombment to follow.
