Dorothy Johnston
1924-2019
Dorothy Beatrice Johnston, age 94, of Cedarstone Enhanced
Care, Truro, formerly of New Glasgow, passed away Monday, July 22,
2019, in Cedarstone. Born in Winona, ON, she was a daughter of the
late Rev. Alex and Beatrice (Moffat) McLean. She was a member of St.
Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow; member of the
I.O.D.E. where she served as a Provincial and National Officer;
volunteer with the foot clinic. She is survived by a son: Gordon
(Jocelyn), Port au Port, NL; granddaughters: Michelle (Ryan) Howlett,
Bowden, AB; Cheryl, Boutiliers Point, NS; Sharon Johnston McLellan,
Calgary, AB; great-grandchildren: Julie, Keane, Kyle, Quinn and Shea;
sister: Esther (Alan) Powell, Ottawa, ON; brother: Gordon (Wendy),
Toronto, ON. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Alexander
Johnston; sisters: Jean and Evelyn; brother, William. Visitation 7-9
pm Friday, in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, 55 Almont Ave., New
Glasgow. Funeral service 11 am Saturday, in St. Andrew’s
Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow, with Rev. Dr. Joon Ki Kim
officiating. Burial will be in Abercrombie Cemetery. Donations in her
memory may be made to the Tearman Society, PO Box 153, New Glasgow,
NS, B2H 5E2 or Pictou County Fuel Fund.
