It is with profound sadness that the family of Arthur (Art) Charles MacKenzie, husband of Mae MacKenzie, announce his passing on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 at the age of 83.
Art was a retired member of the Canadian Armed Forces (Air Force Division).
He was born on March 28th, 1936 in Blackville, NB, the son of the late William and Alice MacKenzie.
He was predeceased by his first wife Irene (MacDonald) MacKenzie in 2013 and his siblings Viola, Georgina and William.
He is survived by his three daughters: Elsa Robichaud (Karl), Laura Jardine (Jerry) and Tammy Girouard (David); two brothers: Omer MacKenzie (Lilah) of Blackville and Allan MacKenzie (Joan) of Bartibog.
He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Ryan (Sam) Jardine, Nigel Robichaud, Kassidy (Brandon) LeBreton and Drake & Grace Girouard and his step-children: Rory (Maria) Matchett, Lana (Mark) Rickard, Cameron (Edwina) Matchett, Luanne (Frank) Schenkels, Shayla (Dean) Mutch and Shane (Krista) Matchett.
He is also survived by a number of step grandchildren.
Art was a member of the Canadian Veterans Association, the Island View Senior Citizens Club (Sunny Corner), Miramichi Senior Advisory Council and a member of the Wesley United Church (Trout Brook).
He was an avid fan of Miramichi hockey and was a season ticket holder for the past 40 years.
Art loved country music and enjoyed attending senior dances especially the Island View Senior dances in Sunny Corner.
Visitation will be held at the Meadows Funeral Home, 150 Northwest Road, Sunny Corner, NB, on Sunday, July 21st, 2019, from 4 to 8 pm.
The funeral service will be held at the Meadows Funeral Home Chapel, 150 Northwest Road, Sunny Corner, NB, on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 11 am with Reverend Geza Szemök officiating.
Burial will take place in Wesley United Church Cemetery, Trout Brook.
As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated by the family
