Albert’s Obituary
SURETTE, Albert Thomas – Abram’s River, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 21, 2019, at the age of 66. Born in Yarmouth, on August 6, 1952. Albert was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who cared so deeply of his family and thought the world of his grandkids by always showing them lots of love. He was a fisherman, having fished all his life, he was also a fish plant worker for R & K Murphy and was a volunteer fireman. Albert enjoyed his time spent in the woods and in the outdoors in general. He was an active hunter, trapper, bowler and an all around outdoorsman. He loved watching curling, hockey and baseball, but his true passion was his cribbage and playing cards where he would brag about his winnings. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 8988 Tusket and Captain Firefighter for Eel Brook Fire Department. You could always find him chatting with the community, being an all around jokester, sharing laughs in his straw hat. Everyone knew to call Albert for a helping hand as you could always depend on him. He was a jack of all trades. Aside by his mother Nora Warner, Albert is survived by his wife of 45 years, Bertha (Cottreau) Surette, daughters Rhonda (Robert) Smith of Wedgeport and Shelly (Mark) Muise of Yarmouth, son Shawn (Sylvia) Surette of Gavelton and his grandkids, Tessa and Dawson Surette, his brother Glendon (Gail) Surette of Melbourne and sister Wanda (Charles) Saulnier of Abram’s River. He was predeceased by his father Edward Surette, as well as his step-father Edward Warner, a brother Hazen Surette and a sister Beverley in infancy. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Huskilson’s Funeral Home and Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation will take place on Wedsneday July 24th, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. with prayers at7 p.m. The funeral Mass will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, July 25th at Sainte Anne’s Catholic Church, Sainte-Anne-du-Ruisseau, Father Albéni d’Entremont officiating. Interment to follow in parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Eel Brook and District Fire Department or the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
