Obituary of Ruby Rice
RICE: Ruby (nee Wills) –
A resident of R.R. # 6 Merlin, Ruby Rice passed away at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus with family at her side on Thursday, June 6, 2019 at the age of 96.
Born in Harwich Township, Ruby was the daughter of the late Herbert and Sarah ‘Sadie’ (Want) Wills.
Beloved wife of 49 years to the late Donald Rice (1998).
Loving mother of Wayne Rice (Sherry Lynn) of Kitchener and Don Rice (Dawn) of Chatham.
‘Grandma Ruby’ to Tanya Lee Rice, Paul Glen Rice, Denver Rice and chosen granddaughter Sarah Dudgeon (Jeffrey).
Great-Grandma Ruby to Liam, Ava, Reeve, Kendell, Thomas, Rebecca, Alexandra and Paris.
Dear sister to Peter William Lee Wills (late Betty). Chosen sister of Irene Brisley (late Harvey) and the late Edith Gillier (late Doug).
Predeceased by her siblings James ‘Bud’ Wills and Lois McKenzie.
Sister-in-law to Barb Wills and Ken McKenzie.
Also missed by nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Ruby retired from Eaton’s Department Store in Chatham and Windsor Chrome plating after many years of service.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Sunday, June 9, 2019 from 2:00 – 4:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00am on Monday, June 10, 2019 with Rev. Susan Jolley officiating. Cremation to follow with a private family interment at St. Patrick’s Cemetery at a later date.
