Paul’s Obituary
With profound sadness, the family of the late Paul Chernoff announce his passing on May 23, 2019, in Calgary, AB, at the age of 31 years. Paul was born on October 27, 1987 in Humboldt, SK, to Harvey and Joan (Swerhone) Chernoff. While growing up, Paul lived with his family in Saskatoon, Canora and Calgary.
Paul was a proud graduate of Alternative High School in Calgary. He treasured his lifelong friendships made with fellow students and teachers. Paul considered Alternative High people as his second family and kept in touch with many of his friends over the years to discuss life happenings, music and most important of all, book recommendations. Paul had a brilliant mind. His life passions included reading (Russian classics in particular), music, astronomy, wrestling, personal fitness, bitcoin and cooking.
Paul enhanced his cooking skills while attending culinary mgt. classes at George Brown College in Toronto. Cooking took Paul to communities across the country including Toronto, Nelson, Victoria, Salt Spring Island and Iqaluit. He really enjoyed the time he spent in Iqaluit and the friendships made while living there.
We will always remember Paul as a kind son, brother and friend. One of Paul’s dear friends said it best, “Paul was very kind. That sounds so simple, but Paul had seen what hurt could do to people, and he held grace and space in his life to avoid doing that.»
Rest in Peace, dear Paul. We hold your memory in our hearts forever, until we meet again.
Paul was predeceased by his grandparents, Pete S and Helen Chernoff and Bill and Evelyn Swerhone of Canora, SK. He leaves many to mourn his passing. He is survived by his parents, Harvey and Joan; brother, Adam (Laura); sister, Jillian; family dogs, Roxy, Jolie, Zoey and Jet; extended family members and many dear friends.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Those wishing to make expressions of sympathy may make donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada or the Kidney Foundation of Canada, as tokens of remembrance, in memory of Paul Chernoff.
