Neil Eugene McKeil
Neil E.
McKeil, 86, of Fredericton, and formerly of Lower Coverdale, passed
away peacefully at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital,
Fredericton on Thursday, June 20, 2019. Born in Upper
Keswick, he was the son of the late Vera (McKeil)
Morgan.
Neil was
retired from CNR Shops (Sheet Metal) with 37 years’ service.
He served with the 8th Field Battery (Reserve)
and was a volunteer fireman for the City of Moncton for 27 years. A
member of First Baptist Church Moncton, Neil was past President of
Food Depot Alimentaire, member of Acacia Lodge #49 F. & A.M,
Luxor Shrine Temple, Saint John and the Luxor Shrine Club. He was also
a member of the UCT Moncton Council 758 and received the UCT Past
Grand Counsellor Award in 2011. Neil was awarded the Governor General
Caring Canadian Award, the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St.
John of Jerusalem Award and the Volunteer Work Award – City
of Moncton – 2001.
An avid
Moncton Wildcats and Toronto Blue Jays fan, he enjoyed hunting,
fishing, canoeing, camping, skidooing, playing cards and spending time
with his family.
Neil will be
sadly missed by his wife of over 67 years, Claudia (Waugh) McKeil;
daughters, Debra Crouse (Wayne) of Burtts Corner and Lori Swetnam
(John) of Moncton; son, Peter McKeil (Debra) of Burtts Corner;
grandchildren, Erin, Terry, Jessica, Melissa, Kerry and Jamie; nine
great grandchildren; brother, Eric Morgan (Ann) of Burtts Corner and
several nieces and nephews.
Visitation
at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on
Sunday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. Acacia Lodge # 49, F. & A. M.
Memorial Service at 6:45 pm. A Service to celebrate and honour
Neil’s life will be held from Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel
on Monday, June 24, 2019 at 11:00 am. Reception in the Funeral Home
Reception Centre following the service. Interment will be Fair Haven
Memorial Gardens.
