Obituary for Mary Johnson
Mary Josephine ‘Glimmering Spirit Woman’ Johnson, a resident of Walpole Island First Nation, went to be with her ancestors on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the age of 72. Mary is the daughter of Stanley Sr. & Mary Alice (Kahosed) Johnson. Loving mother of Samantha Lisa Peters (Elliott Greenbird), Holly Renee Johnson (Randall Paul Johnson), Samuel Christopher Peters Jr., Joseph Travis Peters Sr (Joyce Antone), Faith Blossom Peters, Ethan Bo Thomas and the late Mary Joyce Peters. Dear grandmother of 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Sister of Joanne Trudgen, Alicia Hart and the late John Hart and Stanley Johnson. Mary had formerly worked at Libby Foods in Wallaceburg and Medicine Bear Acadamy, the North American Indian Association of Detroit. The family will receive relatives and friends at her home, 1031 Snye Road, Walpole Island First Nation, from Tuesday to Friday. A traditional funeral will begin from her home at 9:30 on Friday, June 28 with the interment to follow at Highbanks Cemetery.
