November 7, 1924 – June 10, 2019
Martha Margaret Koski, age 94, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2019 in the Vernon Jubilee Hospital. She was born on November 7, 1924 in Blairmore, Alberta. She lived in the small town of Wardner, BC in the East Kootenays. When she was old enough she moved away to work in a logging camp as a cook and this is where she met her husband John. Shortly after that they married on August 7, 1948 they moved back to Wardner where she looked after her mother and father. In 1960 they moved to Port Coquitlam where she lived for 10 years. While living there she took in troubled foster children and gave them a loving home. Shortly after that she moved into Enderby where she lived there until she moved into Heron Grove in Vernon in 2018.
Mom’s hobbies were crocheting, doing puzzles and gardening. I think all of us have her colorful doilies she loved to crochet. Mom was a person who liked to have family dinners and she always made homemade perogies and cabbage rolls that we could never get enough of. Her other love was camping and fishing. She couldn’t get out on the lake fast enough to get her fishing rod out to catch the fish and she sure got her share of them. Maybe this is why she liked fishing so much.
Martha will be lovingly remembered and missed by her three children, Pat Sefton of Enderby, Anita Warren from Ashton Creek and Albert Koski from Canoe BC. Also her 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren.
A special thanks to the care staff and residents of Heron Grove Assisted Living that made mom’s life a happy one. She was loved by both staff and residents.
Also a special thanks to care staff at VJH who treated mom with such loving care in her last days.
