Margaret Luterbach (nee Leptich), late of Regina, SK, passed away surrounded by her children on Friday, June 7, 2019 at the age of 87 years.
She was born in 1931 at Lampman, SK. Margaret grew up in the Browning area and went to school at Crystal. She was involved in the 4H club and was an avid softball player taking many prizes at sports day events.
Margaret was in a fire in 1951 that left 75% of her body severely burned but somehow managed to survive. She married Don Luterbach in 1953 and they moved to Oregon, Washington and then settled in Kalispell, Montana where they started their family. In 1966 Margaret moved back to Canada with her children and Don and she divorced in December 1968. Margaret raised her 6 children on her own and never remarried. She was a very strong and independent woman having worked many jobs in order to raise her children. She moved to Regina in 1976 where she started working for Dairy Producers until she retired in 1995.
A spiritual woman, Margaret was involved with the Queen of Peace and Divine Mercy Centres in Regina where she spent a lot of time and met many friends. One of the highlights was a pilgrimage she made to Medjugorje in 1996.
Margaret was a huge sports enthusiast, particularly regarding her beloved Toronto Blue Jays.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Anton and Mary Leptich; sister Christine (Dan Sinclair); brothers Albert and Laurence; sister-in-law Dorothy.
She is survived by her brother Edward; children Duane, Ken (Denise), Jeff (Rachel), David (Dana), Lori, and Darryl (Donna); she loved all her grandchildren dearly Michael (Susan), Matthew, Christopher, Courtney, Kyle, Melissa, Jesse, Nathan, Alexandra (Katlin), Jake, Ryan, Sean, Joshua, and Tyler; great-grandchildren Knox, Anna Lee, and Kabela; sisters-in-law Helen and Vivian; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Alan Blair Cancer Clinic or the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan.
Funeral Mass will be held at a later date this fall.
