Obituary of Margaret Bernice Victoria Halliday
Margaret (Vicky) Bernice Victoria Halliday
It is with great sadness the Halliday family announces the peaceful passing of Margaret Bernice Victoria (Robar) Halliday with her family at her side on June 2, 2019 at South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater.
She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Richard “Doc” Halliday; brothers, Burpee and Bryce Robar; daughter-in-law, Marlene.
She is survived by her four children, Chester Halliday; Amber (Santo) Halliday; Brent (Brenda) Halliday and Dexter (Darlene) Halliday; grandchildren, Amanda (Will); Jessica, Corey, Genoa, Mikayla, Sakima and Kiawa; great-grandchildren, Lincoln, Damien and Shea; step-sister, Rebecca “Becky” (Bob) Scott and her large extended family.
Born in East Clifford on January 16, 1934 to William and Nellie Rae (Selig) Robar, Margaret grew up and eventually settled in East Clifford spending the majority of her life in the community she treasured. At 18, Margaret Joined the RCAF and served from 1952-1957 as a Radar Operator. She was extremely proud to be a Military Veteran of Canada and a member of the National RCAF Association, enjoying the time spent with her woman veterans at their luncheons. She returned to East Clifford after her RCAF service, planning to re-join and make a career, but met her future husband, Richard “Doc” Halliday.
She met the love of her life and best friend, Richard in 1956 and soon thereafter married on March 1, 1957. Residing in Chester, then moving to Windsor, Ontario before settling in East Clifford where they spent the remainder of their lives.
Margaret belonged to the Rosedale New Horizons Seniors Club, New Germany; Royal Canadian Legion Branch 24, Bridgewater; Bakers Settlement Women’s Group and New Horizons Square Dance Club. She enjoyed square dancing, card games and social events throughout Lunenburg County.
Margaret enjoyed travelling with her husband, Richard where she was always coming or going somewhere. Her favourite places were Nashville, British Columbia and Germany just to name a few. Margaret always kept in very close contact with family wherever she was, and often dropped in to visit.
Margaret was a loving, caring wife and mother who was always there for her family. She was adored by all whom met her. Both family and friends held her in high regard for her loving and charming personality and hospitality. One of Margaret’s many pleasures was having close friends in her life. Her pride in her home cooking was evident, ensuring everyone visiting her home never went away hungry.
She’s now walking side by side resting in peace with her love, Richard. Mom or Nanny, you leave a big void in our hearts, but knowing you are with Dad has eased our sorrow. Rest in peace mom and know that you will be forever missed in our hearts.
Our family would like to give a special thank-you and appreciation to friends Dave Hemming and Mary Bolivar for their ongoing affection and support since the passing of her husband, Richard.
Our family especially wish to thank Dr. Gregory Thibodeau and the 4th floor nursing staff at the South Shore Regional Hospital for their compassionate care and support given to our mother during this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life is planned to be held at a later date. Donations can be made to the South Shore Regional Hospital or Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 24, Bridgewater in her loving memory.

Nos plus sincères sympathies à la famille et aux amis de Margaret Bernice Victoria Halliday 2019..
