Laura’s Obituary
Bretz, Laura Virginia, long time resident of Peace River, Alberta passed away on June 16, 2019 in Peace River at the age of sixty five years. Laura was born in Edmonton, Alberta and was raised in and around the Nordegg / Rocky Mountain House area.
Homemaker, wife and mother, Laura was involved with many activities for children and young adults, serving as a Girl Guide Leader in Rainbow Lake, Cub Master in Airdrie and Commanding Officer of the 124 Air Cadet Squadron in Peace River. Whether it was in an active role or serving in support committees she was always involved. She was also the first elected member of the Rainbow Lake Town Council. Well known as the “Hat Lady” in Peace River, she loved her fedoras and sun hats. She loved gardening, feeding birds and watching all the wildlife on her acreage.
Laura was predeceased by daughter Virginia and parents Conrad and Doreen Bello of Rocky
Mountain House, Alberta.
Laura is survived by husband Henry, brother David (Linda), daughter Mandy (Laszlo), son David, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be announced at a later date.
If friends so desire, Memorial Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Foundation in her name.
