Kyla Foster nee Eaton 2019

The world chocolate producers have announced a possible decline in the value of the commodity as one of their long standing taste testers, Kyla received a call with a type of offer you can’t refuse; for an appointment for which she won’t be returning. Assuming her given name, Kyla Eaton, she accepted an assignment with tremendous benefits that include a reunion with family and friends she has not seen in a long time.
Kyla began her life in New Westminster, BC. Her early adventures started in North Delta where she attended school. Outside of school, Kyla was always busy with many after school activities including swimming lessons, playing soft ball, bowling, skiing, and snowboarding, usually with her big sister Amalia.
Following a move to Vancouver Island in her teenage years, Kyla began to discover a keen desire to follow culinary arts in secondary school. Her passions lead to further education entering the Baking program at Vancouver Island University. Kyla soon realized her ultimate dream job; a cake decorator. Kyla’s inherit artistic skill and eye for detail lead to career positions with Thrifty Foods and Quality Foods in Victoria.
Kyla took a break from baking in 2014 and moved to Calgary. She accepted a position with Canada Olympic Park in Guest Services. Kyla’s warm and caring personality was a natural fit for this new opportunity. She soon became a valuable team contributor to enhancing visitors’ experiences to the facility. Kyla loved the job and the great people she was fortunate enough to work with.
Kyla was married in 2014. In September 2016, along with Kyla’s return to Victoria, the love of her life arrived with the birth of her son Lucas. Kyla and Lucas were a dynamic duo. The little man is the pillar of her strength. Kyla and Lucas were inseparable. Wherever Kyla was going Lucas was right along side her. Kyla instilled the same values in Lucas as those of herself. Learning, adventure and loving life.
Kyla wishes to remind her family to keep the fridge full of love and the cupboards well stocked with kisses for her young son Lucas. This young man has a long way to go.
Family is an important corner stone for Kyla and man, does she have a large extended family. Her parents Marie (Rod) and Jim (Marci) Eaton raised the curtain for Kyla’s arrival in 1988. Kyla became the second in a sisters act with Amalia. Kyla had the good fortune of adding a step sister Megan (Mike) and a step brother Andy to her growing clan.
In 2014, Kyla became a proud aunt to Victoria (Mike and Megan) and again in 2017 to Isobell (James and Amalia).
Kyla wants to recognize her birth grandparents Joan & Jim Eaton and Mary Lyons for the special times and guidance in her life. Kyla’s grandparent relationship also includes wonderful times with Anne & Len Schmaltz (Len predeceased) and Sue Schmaltz (predeceased).
Aunts, Uncles and cousins have always been a credit to Kyla. From the Eaton family, Aunt Sherry & Uncle Ron Eaton with cousins Naomi and Thomas. From the Lyons family, Uncle Andy, Aunt Roberta and Uncle Rob with cousins Kirsten and Brandon.
Kyla had the added benefit in her life having special times with Aunt Debbie & Uncle Brian Schmaltz and Aunt Jacquie & Uncle Greg Luoma with cousins Christina (Craig), Steven and Katie.
Kyla wants to include a thank you to her incredible friends, Talia, Justine, Taylor, Dave and Kristen.
Kyla also leaves behind Aunt Caroline and Uncle Thom Klos.
Kyla and her family would be remiss to not mention our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Vanessa Bernstein, Dr. Pauline Truong, and the many incredible professionals at the BC Cancer Clinic Vancouver Island. We further want to go on to thank Dr. Jody Anderson and the caring medical staff of the 8th floor at Royal Jubilee Hospital Victoria. Thanks Julieta for the parties. A special mention goes out to the home care nurses Louise, Tina and Lisa that went out of their way to put sunshine back in her day. Finally, to the Hospice support staff for their thoughtful and gentle care. Many professional s came to Kyla’s aid and we thank each and everyone. All of you are amazing.
“Kyla’s Secret Garden Memorial” will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, June 15, 2019 in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens, 4665 Falaise Drive in Victoria, BC.
