John Wendell «Cy» Burke
1933-2019
Peacefully at the
Provincial Palliative Care Centre on Saturday, June 29, 2019 of John
Wendell «Cy» Burke in his 86th
year.
He is survived by his partner and best friend Bernadette
Milligan Peters of 36 years. Dear father to Fran (Gerry) Andrew,
Darlene (Eric) Noel, Mike Burke, Lynn Burke-Davis and to step
children, Carolyn, Kim, David, Jeffrey, Kenneth and Sharon.
Grandfather of 18 grandchildren and great grandfather to 7 great
grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Shirley Doyle (Rae)
and brother Art Burke (Bev). He was predeceased by his parents Anthony
and Julia «Lillie» (Gallant) Burke, sister Mary Ryan (J.R.
Rockey), brothers Clarence (Eileen), Lorne (Beryl), Frank Burke and
son-in-law Gary Davis.
We are grateful for the wonderful care he received at the
Q.E.H. and the P.P.C. The staff at the Palliative Care Centre welcomed
us and was caring and helpful to Cy and family. We want to thank them
for all of their kind words and support.
Resting at the Hennessey Cutcliffe Charlottetown Funeral Home
until Wednesday, July 3rd , then transferred to
St. Eugene’s Church, Covehead for funeral mass at 10:00 a.m.
Interment will follow in St. Eugene’s Parish Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July
2nd from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Charlottetown Branch #1 of the Royal Canadian Legion will hold a
Legion Service at the funeral home on Tuesday at 6:45
p.m.
