Joan Marie Darlington
1938-2019
DARLINGTON, Joan Marie (Urquhart)
Mrs. Joan Marie Darlington (Urquhart) died peacefully at All
Saints Hospital, Springhill, Nova Scotia on June 7, 2019 at the age of
81. Born in Sydney, NS she was the daughter of the late Alexander and
Eva (Craven) Urquhart.
Joan is survived by her husband, Peter; daughters, Linda
(Ray) Bath, Kennetcook, NS, Claudia (Jacob) Singh, Winnipeg, MB; son,
Christopher (Anne Troake), Logy Bay, NL, and grandchildren, Zachary
Bath, Joshua and Uriah Singh.
She was predeceased by brother, Wesley Dunlop.
She married Peter Russell Darlington in 1961. They met while
serving in the Canadian Air Force, and lived in Germany, Texas and
Washington before settling
down in St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador
where Peter and Joan started a
private practice in Periodontology. Upon retirement in 1995,
they moved to Joan’s beloved Cape Breton where they split
their time between Sydney and their country home in
Dundee.
A celebration of Joan’s life will be held on June
14 in Dundee, Cape Breton. Please
