Passed away peacefully at Brierwood Gardens surrounded by his family members on Thursday, June 6, 2019 in his 99th year. Loving husband of the late Iris (2013). Much loved father of Catherine Gregory (Bill), Ken Ashby and the late Barry Ashby (2014). Beloved Grandpa of Chris (Ougt), Bryan (Christie), Danielle (Mike), Kim (Denis), Darryl (Ambyr), Cory (Amanda) and great-grandfather of 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by sister Dorothy Lawton and brother Norman Ashby. Fred was a serving member of the R.C.A.F. 404 Squadron serving in the Shetland Islands during WW II as a flight engineer. He was a member of Brant Masonic Lodge #45 for over 60 years. He worked at Harding Carpets in Brantford in excess of 45 years where he returned following the war. Fred and Iris enjoyed many of their retirement years at Fin and Feather Trailer Park and Marina in St.Williams. Family and friends will be received at the TOLL FUNERAL HOME Reception Centre , at 63 Charing Cross Street, Brantford on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 from 3-5 pm.
