Obituary of Douglas L. Maynard
Maynard Douglas L. “Joe” – 85 years, 23 June 2019, passed away at Chatham-Kent Hospice. Son of the late Washington Maynard and former Florence Ion. Predeceased by beloved wife Ada (Howard) Maynard (1989). Dear father of Len Maynard and wife Gabriele (Janka) Maynard and Lynn Maynard all of Chatham. Grandfather to Patrick Maynard and wife Lisa (Sullivan) Maynard of Chatham and Joseph Maynard of Toronto. Great Grandfather to James Maynard and Robert Maynard of Chatham. Also surviving him is his loving friend Donna DeClark. Predeceased by brothers Alfred, Norm, Jim, Ken, Oliver (Casey), and Fred. Doug started his career as a bottle capper at Snell’s Beverages. He was a 30-year veteran of the Chatham Fire Department, long time member of the Royal Canadian Legion and Life member of the Imperial Club. Doug enjoyed playing euchre, solitaire and watching baseball and hockey. He will be missed by all.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. A Funeral Service will be held at the Funeral Home at 11:00 am on Wednesday with Rev. Jamie Tiffin officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
