Memorial Donation
David Swain, aged 40, but basically 50, of Landmark, MB., passed away suddenly on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.
He is survived by his beloved partner Daniele and her children Isobel and Emilie, brother in-law Denis, and their family, his children Easton and Aislinn, siblings Chris (Autumn Zander), Abby, brother in-law Jeff (Harlow and Sebastian), Jake (Lyla and Pete) and Steve (Hallie), His mother Susan Swain along with Step-mom Leslie Stecher.
He was predeceased by his father Alvin Stecher, grandmother Rosemary McLaren and uncle Marshall Trembley.
David was always a hardworking man, he got his first job at 14 for food fare. He then started working in carpentry and found his final niche in pools. His passion existed in creating challenging design in someone’s yard, his eyes lit up when what he imagined materialized. He wanted to branch out into addictions work and support but was robbed of this. David had a very difficult childhood and was often tormented and conflicted with issues of self-worth, he longed to be a success but this wasn’t so neatly defined. He was a man that was generous beyond measure with his time effort and passion.
His greatest pride were Easton and Aislinn his time with them was the highlight of his week. They will cherish the memory of opening his truck door to be greeted with vitamin water and honey crullers. He was always very thoughtful with his gift giving, he made a great shopping partner. He always put up a challenge at badminton followed-up with olive garden dates. Time with dad was cut too short but in our memories he will live on forever.
Dave was lover of sport! The greatest of all being the good old hockey game. David collected cards as a child and would skip school to go hound the jets at the old rink to get autographs (a worthy cause). Belonging to the sponge hockey league was important to him and he was intense about the matches. If you ever wanted to start an argument with David it was easy, all that was required was mentioning that Perreault had showed up to the game or that Sid the kid was over rated.
Swainer was the guy you wanted to be around, he had a smile that could light up a room, a contagious laugh and the kindest eyes. It wasn’t just a matter of being a good looking man because he was that too, he had grit, was humble, generous and could see the good in almost every situation. A son, a brother, a father, an uncle a husband and step dad. He will forever be in our hearts and on our minds. Until we meet again.
A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at Heartland Community, 333 Main Street, Landmark MB.
If friends so desire in lieu of flowers please make a donation to Easton and Aislinn’s education trust at the Caisse Populaire in Lorette.
A special thank you to EMS Cassandra and Justin for their kindness, skill and sensitivity. Laura for being so helpful with Isobel and Emilie. Yvonne for her continued support. The community of landmark for amazing meals and prayers. To our friends and families for helping us through this incredibly difficult time.
