It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carmela Mattina at the age of 84 on Tuesday, June 11, 2019. Reunited with her husband of 49 years Giuseppe (2014). Beloved mother of Pierina (Phil), Linda (Sam), Anthony (Nenzi) and Florence (Domenic). Cherished Nonna Mela of Alexander, Emma, Joseph, Sofia, Michael, Aiden and Anthony. Beloved sister of the late Maria Cimino (late Vincenzo), late Gaspare Destro (Gina), late Carmelo Destro (Pina), late Alfonso Destro (late Marianna), Marianna Mattina (late Paolo), late Giovanni Destro (Maria), Salvatore Destro (Carol) and Cologero Destro (Stella). Sister-in-law to the late Salvatore (Teresa), Maria (late Carmelo), Nenna (late Giuseppe) and the late Carmelina (Vincenzo). Carmela was always known as «The Beautiful Lady» by her many friends, nieces and nephews. She traveled for over 25 years, frequently to Acapulco for the winters with many friends and family. Carmela was very active playing bocce and bingo and tended to her vegetable garden and flowers. A special thanks to all the PSW’s at Bayshore, the VON nurses, specifically Victor and the staff at Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice. Visitation at Bay Gardens Funeral Home – «William J. Markey Chapel», 947 Rymal Road East, HAMILTON (905.574.0405) on Friday, June 14th from 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm and from 6:00 pm – 9:00 pm. The Vigil Prayers for Carmela will be held at 3:30 pm. The Funeral Mass will be held at Regina Mundi Roman Catholic Church, 631 Mohawk Road West, Hamilton on Saturday, June 15th at 10:00 am. Entombment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice would be appreciated.
