With sadness our family announces the passing of Yvonne Elizabeth Rodenbush on May 24th, 2019.
She was proceeded by her parents Cyril and Roseina Flavel and brothers Ken, Lyle and Darwin.
She is survived by her loving husband, Alan Rodenbush (of 60 years) and children; Leslye (Ron) Johnston, Craig Rodenbush, Nicole (Greg) Armstrong and foster daughter Darlene Grymaloski. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; Shane (Tracy) Batch, Shauna (Mike) Flux, Nena (Michael) Hawkes, Dallas Rodenbush, Hailey Armstrong and Logan Armstrong, as well as 8 great grandchildren.
Yvonne was born in Bulyea, Saskatchewan and grew up a proud, strong farm girl working side by side with her brothers and parents. She was a hard worker from the beginning, doing chores and showing animals in the 4H Club. She attended high school at QDS girl’s school in Regina, Saskatchewan before returning to the farm and meeting the love of her life- Alan Rodenbush. They married on July 17, 1959 in Saskatchewan, where they raised their children. Yvonne worked and retired from the Department of Agriculture for the Government of Saskatchewan prior to her and Al’s move to Trail, BC to be close to their two daughters.
She was known for her ability to make new friends wherever she went, her wonderful sense of humour, her amazing baking skills, her love of animals, her quirky sayings that left no doubt as to her Scottish roots, her love of all things Saskatchewan including the Roughriders and her devotion to her family and friends who will greatly miss her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on June 7th at 2pm, at The Royal Canadian Legion in Trail, BC. Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence.
